Let's Get A Little Personal

I think it is time for me to express the personal side of Ciara.

I am one person that has a huge heart and people can do me so wrong but no matter what I still end up seeing the good in them. In the end in the one that gets hurt and ends up looking boo boo the fool.

I'm completely fed up!

I'm so done with thinking about people before thinking about myself that I've become really cold. When I say cold I mean coldhearted and honestly I don't care.

Can someone explain to me why people take me for granted? Is it because I'm too forgiving? Do I love to hard? Do I not see the bad in people? WHAT THE HELL IS IT?

I think I need a counselor or hell maybe God just needs to keep me close to the cross.

I think one of these days I might explode and it might be on the wrong person.

What do I do?

Colvin Works Even Harder In the Off Season

Remember this kid?

Well #45 for Eastmoor Academy is back and hasn't let the upsetting news of his football team not making it into the playoff discourage him.

As soon as Colvin and his football team found out they did not make it to playoffs to face Bishop Hartley of Columbus, Ohio he decided that he was going to get a personal trainer to keep him in shape for his senior year football season.

Quandis Colvin, #45 father got him a personal trainer that works him out three times a week on the off season.

Colvin pays $175 a month for personal training at Boss Training in Columbus.

Take a look at his first workout video.

Colvin has set the goal to lose 15 pounds. He currently weighs 245 pounds and wants to get down to 220 by the end of this personal training season.

After his first week of training he has already lost 2 pounds and lost 3% of his body fat.

Take a look at his second workout video

Now even though the football season is over for the Warrior team Colvin recently found out that he  made the City of Columbus First Team All Defense All-star Team.

If Colvin keeps up the hard work his father stated he will be a MONSTER by the time he gets to his senior year.

This is My Blog About Blogging

Personally, I love the idea of blogs. They're a great way to talk to yourself or get your thoughts out. However, I can never blog about the things I wish to blog about on the spot because its usually not the best time to have my phone out. Instead, I can quickly post my thought on Twitter in 150 characters.

If I had way more time to type about the random things that happen to me on a daily I would blog more often but I simply can't. I think for next semester students should still blog or make a Twitter. Perhaps a Twitter since everyone is always on it and can simply agree by hitting the #Retweet button.

I don't exactly know my plan to blog more but I know you all will see more random post.

Let The Show Begin

Hype man TommyTheClown hosted a battle between two young men in a high school gymnasium.

12 year old choreographer Leon Burns (instagram name @kidathegreat) is all over social media for being known as one to murder the Nae Nae dance.

10 year @kiddshowout (no name was given) battled Leon and lost. However, he held his own during the battle. He threw back handsprings and breakdanced during his battle.

Ebola Hits The USA

Ebola has now broken out in the United States and another lady is quarantined in her home back in Dallas.

The trending topic on Twitter has people terrified that they have possibly come in contact with another person who has also been in contact with Ebola.

CNN reported that it takes up to 29 days to find out if you have come in contact with the virus. Therefore people are being quarantined for a month and a couple days.

CNN also reported that Ebola can be contacted through hygiene. If two people are sharing the same bed sheets or even the use of towels can allow one to come in contact with the virus.

The real question people want answered is whether there is a cure or not? How will they know if they have come in contact with the virus?

What will America do?

Is The HPER Doing Too Much?

Ever since the start of the school year student employees at the HPER have been complaining about the new talk of uniforms and not being allowed to do homework while a work. So, far the uniforms have not been enforced however the no homework policy at work has hit an all time high.

Rumor has it that the boss of
Maigan Larson has enforced talking "study" out of "work study" to focus more on 100% community service.

Due to this new rule students have quit working at the HPER because they're working so many hours that they don't have the time to do homework when they return home from a long day of school.

Not only has the no homework rule been enforced but students, faculty members, and springfield residents who do not have their ID upon entering the HPER will be turned away.

It is understandable to make non Wittenberg affiliated people bring their ID but it you know a person attends Wittenberg why would you make them leave the building especially if they're on their way to practice.

Is the HPER taking these policies too seriously or are students just not understanding the real reason why these rules are wing heavily enforced?

We may never know WITT!

Jail Bait or Is It Rape?

This past weekend I went home to Columbus, Oh. While I was home I noticed how most high school boys are taking an interest in females that are 20+ years old.

While analyzing this I realized that the females these guys are interested in see dollar signs. Meaning these young men are talented in sports and they will make it far in their college career.

When I think of older women dating high school boys at the age of 16-17 I think jail bait dor better yet statutory rape. I would never let my child think about being with a female that old and they haven't hit 18 years old.

If you were the parent of a young man or the older female what would you do?

My "Baby" My "Cinnamon Apple"

Recently, a guy referring to his girlfriend as his "baby" his "cinnamon apple" murdered his girlfriend because of infidelity.

In the video the ex couple are outside of their apartment complex and the young man is yelling at his ex through her car window.

During the video you can see how obvious it is that this guy is crazy about his girlfriend. He is so crazy about her that he murders her inside their apartment complex in her sleep.

This story really bothers me because this male allowed a female to take him out of his character causing him to go crazy and murder her.

No matter how much you care for someone I personally would not be able to kill you. If I'm that crazy about you I would try to work it out or more so try to keep you around in my life. But now not only is he hurt but he will never see her or talk to her again and he lost his freedom.

The Return of Scandal

With all the hype of Scandal returning on Sep. 25th Wittenberg viewers are turning to Hulu, Netflix, and abc.go to rewatch and refresh their memory of previous episodes.

In the previous season we find out that Cyrus let a church building explode, Madam Vice President almost won the presidential election by using the church explosion as her own "Pearl Harbor."

Eli or Papa Pope killed the presidents son while he was on stage with him, Huck and Quin are done with their weird sexual fantasies, and Maya or Mama Pope is done with her terrorist attacks due to being caught.

Lastly, Olivia Pope and the President Fitz affair is over, Papa Pope is back as B613, Olivia and Jake leave Washington, DC, and Fitz still doesn't have any eyebrows (just a quick reminder).

What will season 4 of Scandal have in store? The world is waiting to know.

High School Football Player Reaction

This past weekend a football player by the name of Apollos Hester of East View High School in Texas gave a motivational speech when being interviewed after his football game.

In his interview he continued to repeat how his team started off really slow in the first half of the game. The opposing team got the best of them.

However, he then stated how his football team kept the right attitude to lead them to a successful second half of the game.

His team game back to defeat Vandergrift 42-41.

In all honesty there is nothing more powerful than having a teammate that can verbally give someone so much hope just by speaking words of praise.

His interview motivated me to want to have a positive attitude in everything I do. Just like Hester said   he will be there for anyone when they're down, I will be there too.

This is one motivational speech I believe everyone should watch before any big event or challenge they may face.

Turn Down For What Witt?

Every new school year students expect find the hottest parties happening on campus throughout the weekends. However, upperclassmen have been complaining about the parties that have been thrown in campus this so far this year.

"I like to go out and have a blast but this year I'm not feeling any of the parties," said sophomore Christian Owens.

It is now the 4th week into the school year and students have stated that they would rather stay inside and hangout with friends.

Is this because they would rather not spend money on going to McMurray's? Or is it because students simply know the party will eventually get shut down?

Will Witt ever be the place to party again? We may never know.

CBS Starts The Year Off Right

Not many students always feel welcomed when they come to a new school. However, students who have joined the Concerned Black Students Program seem to feel right at home.

This past Friday, the CBS staff had a lock-in for all students to come eat, play games, and get to know each other.

CBS President Mia Simpson, took the lead and ordered 20 Paddy's Pizzas and conducted many games such as: battle of the sexes, flash light tag, and hide and go seek.

Later on the lock-in turned into a small party allowing students to dance and play music of their choice.

"I was a little worried about the lock-in not being so successful because I didn't hear a lot of people talk about it," said Simpson. "But to my surprise it turned out way better than planned."

In previous years CBS lock-ins weren't as successful due to the lack of advertisement on campus.

However, with new people on staff CBS looks like they are eager to share their bright ideas.

This years staff has many things planned for the 2014-2015 year.

Would You Be Another ByStander?

This past weekend, I witnessed a man hit his wife repeatedly in public. He called her out of her name using words such as "bitch, whore, slut." As he hit and slandered her character he laughed at her.

I also watched many people walked by and stare but didn't say or do anything to this man. Many people "gasped" and said "Oh My Gosh" but they didn't do anything at all. Noone bothered to pick up their phone to even call the police anonymously.

So, my question is if you were a witness to this act of violence what would you do?

One Down Nine More Games To Go: Eastmoor Wins The Warrior Way

At the end of the third quarter the Eastmoor Warriors score is still 22-7.

After returning from half time Westland defense came back out strong with plans to hold the Warriors offense. However, whenever Westland recieved the ball they could not make it passed the thirty yard line.

In the third quarter Westland threw 4 interceptions. Eastmoor warriors could not get inside the Westland Cougars ten yard line. Therefore, Quincy Colvin ('16) was forced to punt a thirty yard field goal that ended up being blocked by the Westland defense.

Fourth quarter, head coach Miranda puts in second string due to his starting players cramping up. Second string players lacked a strong defense and allowed Westland to score and gain another 7 points on the board.

The score is now 22-14.

All of the Eastmoor starters decided to get back in the game and on the punt return George Daniels ('15) caught the ball inside Eastmoor's twenty yard line and was tackled.

Next play, Eastmoor's quarter back Tyler Simmons didn't have any players open to pass the ball. While he's quick in his feet he ran the ball in seventy yards for another Warrior touchdown. Colvin comes in for a one point conversion. The kick is good.

Eastmoor wins the game leading 28-14.

"We runnin, we workin, we sweatin, we WARRIORS"

At halftime Eastmoor Warriors of Columbus, OH are winning 22-7.

First quarter, Quincy Colvin (junior) kicked off the ball returning it into the Westland Cougars in zone. Cougars ran it back for a 80 yard touchdown. Cougars kicked in the ball in for a 1 point conversion.

Second quarter, Westland Cougars fumble the ball and was recovered by Colvin at the fifty yard line. Next play, Eastmoor's quarter back Tyler Simmons (senior) threw a 55 yard bomb for George Daniels (senior) to catch in the in zone.

Thoughtout the second quarter Cougars have been receiving the ball to only fumble or throw an interception. Cougars have failed to make it passed their thirty yard line.

It's easy to say that Eastmoor Warriors are hungry today.

In the words of the Warriors, "we runnin, we workin, we sweatin, we WARRIORS."

From A Scared Freshman To A Confident Freshman

Today, I met a freshman football player here at Wittenberg by the name of Devon Hightower. He expressed to me how these couple of weeks he's been here at Witt have changed his life.

Devon is from Connecticut and before he arrived at Witt he explained how nervous he was. He didn't know what to expect nor was he willing to step out of his comfort zone.

As I listened to Devon talk about being here at Wittenberg I notice how he began to relax. His shoulders became less tense and he was able to look me in my eyes as he spoke. It was like he was finding himself. He was gaining confidence in himself.

Now I didn't know Devon before he came to Wittenberg but I could tell how much of a difference this school has made in his life. There was one thing he said that stuck with me...

"Wittenberg has already taught me to go after anything I want in life," said Hightower.

Just by knowing how much his life has changed in these couples of weeks he's been here makes it that much easier for me to sleep at night. Because now I know Wittenberg had done their job at impacting a persons life and passing on the Torch.

Job well done Witt!

Let's Start The Year Of Right: Classroom Expectations

There is no doubt that every college students has wondered what every single one of their classes will be like. Some courses may cause you to feel a little bit nervous and some courses may make you feel like you can take the class in your sleep (I don't recommend that). However, each student still needs to approach each class with high expectations. Starting off with a positive attitude and making a good impression is an absolute must. Here are some great suggestions to being successful in each classroom and will get you headed in the right direction:

Be on time or early. This will allow you to find a great seat, talk to your professor before class starts, and even allow you to look over your notes before that "pop quiz."

Be prepared and organized. You'll more than likely be taking notes in each and every class. As long as you're organized you will know where your things are at all times and you won't have to ask your neighbor to borrow a pen (you're in college now).

Get to know your professor. Just as much as they want to get to know you, you should want to get to know them. Therefore, you will be comfortable with talking to them one on one about papers, exams, and even catching up on life events.

GO TO CLASS. If you want a good grade don't be lazy. Get out of bed and make the day count. Be willing and open to learning new things even if you aren't crazy about the class.

Ask questions. Your questions will never get answered if you don't ask the question. There are no such things as dumb questions. So, don't be afraid to ask that some question over and over again until you completely understand it. Your professors and peers are there for a reason. Let them help you.

Turn off your cell phone. Texting Mr. or Mrs. right now will not help you get an A on that paper or exam. They can wait.
